Fee Guide

Every Etsy Fee Explained for 2026

Etsy charges multiple fees on every sale — and they add up fast. Here's a clear breakdown of what you actually pay so there are no surprises when your deposit arrives.

Fee Summary Table

FeeAmount
Listing Fee$0.20
Transaction Fee6.5%
Payment Processing3% + $0.25
Offsite Ads Fee15% or 12%
Etsy Plus$10/month
Multi-quantity Fee$0.20/item

Listing Fee — $0.20 per item

Every time you create or renew a listing, Etsy charges $0.20. Listings expire after 4 months and auto-renew (another $0.20) unless you turn that off. If you sell a multi-quantity listing, you pay an additional $0.20 for each extra unit sold.

For a shop with 100 active listings that auto-renew, that's $60/year in listing fees alone before you sell a single item.

Transaction Fee — 6.5%

The transaction fee is 6.5% of the total order amount — and "total order amount" includes both the item price and any shipping you charge the buyer. This is the fee that catches most new sellers off guard.

If you sell a $25 item with $5 shipping, Etsy charges 6.5% on $30 = $1.95 in transaction fees. This is why many sellers offer "free shipping" and build the cost into the item price — it doesn't change the fee math, but it can improve search ranking.

Payment Processing Fee — 3% + $0.25

Etsy processes all payments through Etsy Payments and charges a processing fee similar to Stripe or PayPal. In the US, it's 3% + $0.25 per transaction. Rates vary by country:

  • US: 3% + $0.25
  • UK: 4% + £0.20
  • Canada: 3% + CA$0.25
  • Australia: 3% + A$0.25
  • EU: 4% + €0.30

Unlike the transaction fee, the payment processing fee is only charged on the item price and shipping — not on taxes collected.

Offsite Ads Fee — 15% or 12%

Etsy runs ads for your listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. If a buyer clicks one of these ads and purchases from you within 30 days, Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee:

  • 15% for sellers earning under $10,000/year — you can opt out
  • 12% for sellers earning over $10,000/year — mandatory, cannot opt out

The fee is on the item price only (not shipping). This is the single largest fee Etsy charges, and it stacks on top of all other fees. A $25 sale through an offsite ad costs you $3.75 in offsite ads fees alone, plus all the regular fees.

Total Effective Fee Rate

When you add it all up, a typical Etsy sale costs approximately:

Without Offsite Ads~10–11% of sale price
With Offsite Ads (15%)~25–26% of sale price

These percentages decrease slightly on higher-priced items because the fixed fees ($0.20 listing + $0.25 processing) become a smaller proportion. Use our calculator to see the exact fees for your specific price point.

Fees That Don't Apply to Every Seller

Etsy Plus ($10/month): Optional subscription that gives you shop credits, custom domain, and advanced customization tools. Most sellers don't need this — it's only worth it if you list a high volume of items each month (the credits offset the listing fees).

Pattern by Etsy ($15/month): Lets you create a standalone website using your Etsy listings. Rarely worth it — Shopify or Squarespace are better options for a standalone store.

Etsy Ads (pay-per-click): Different from Offsite Ads. This is Etsy's on-platform advertising where you set a daily budget. You only pay when someone clicks your ad within Etsy search results.
